About Us

The Yarn Bodega hopes to provide others with a much-needed creative outlet thru the fiberarts in the Bronx. Our end goal is to be the Bronx's first dedicated yarn shop, with a storefront retail space highlighting Bronx-based (and Bronx-adjacent) makers. We’ll offer online shopping, as well as host virtual and in-person crafting meetups supporting local Bronx businesses.

Founded by Ismelda Molina-Rodriguez (aka Izzy), The Yarn Bodega ties back to her Dominican roots and pays homage to her father, who owned a bodega in the South Bronx for 30 years. She's lived in the Bronx for over 23 years and has been inspired by many makers and entrepreneurs to share her story and passion, so others can have their own fiberarts journeys locally. She's a crocheter, a yarn spinner, and occasionally practices her knitting skills.
